Peregrine Falcons

My favourite bird species and one of my favourite subjects to photogrpah. My intrest in birds/nature started at a local hawkwatch, and Peregrines have now become a part of presentations, my liscence plate, nicknames and the name of this website! All that on top of countless hours viewing the birds in every season.

 

Ivory Gulls

I would say the closest things I've ever had to a life-changing experience were 2 situations involving birds. After spending 6 weeks in St. John's, Newfoundland in the winter of 2010, the stars alligned and I was able to travel to the Northern Penninsula of Newfoundland and spent a week enjoying an invasion of Ivory Gulls after a huge Valentine's Day storm pushed them ashore. Ivory Gull was the species I had wanted to photograph the most in the world at the time, and they didn't dissapoint.

 

Favourite "Creative" Images

The below images are my best attempts at being creative with my photography. Generally nature photos are more like documentary, rather than being artistic. Here I've tried to walk the line and combine the two. Nothing here has been "photo shopped" to add un-natural colours or elements to the photos, simply using the mechanics of camera gear to create the images.
